Vintage Focus – 2009 and 2010 Burgundy

This week we will be providing you with new arrivals from the most current Bordeaux and Burgundy vintages. To start off, we have now acquired nearly 25 cases of 1er Cru and Grand Cru Burgundy. Entirely from 2009 and 2010, every selection here has been rated between 90 and 97 points by notoriously rigorous critic Allen Meadows.

Having recently enjoyed several of these wines ourselves – notably the 2009 Vosne–Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru from Domaine Jean Grivot (92–94 BH), a wine of intense colour, exceptional flavour and spectacular generosity – we can attest to their outstanding quality. Overall, the 2009s have remained the denser, more deeply extracted and powerfully fruit–driven of the two vintages, whilst the 2010s are gloriously exuberant and notable for their superior acidity and superb balance.
